Director Bio:

Jordan "T.J." Blanco b.1998, is a Latinx, non-binary, experimental filmmaker based in Milwaukee, WI interested in ancestral memory, mythic construction and the everyday absurdity of life under Neoliberalist Late Stage Capitalism
.

Director Statement:

With Trans and non-binary visibility becoming more and more popular under rainbow capitalism, I was interested in questioning whether visibility alone could translate to material resources in queer individuals lives. To do so, I brought in some Trans and non-binary friends to think alongside. What came of those conversations is the project Seen//Unseen. I shot the film on 16mm black-and-white film to situate Trans and gender non-conforming individuals within their rightful historical context of having always existed. I formally invoked the act of looking throughout the film in order to problematize the gaze and the fraught historical representation of queer individuals. The completed film functions as love letter to the queer community in all our resilience, brilliance and expertise.
