An artist takes her recycling out and becomes inspired to repurpose the cardboard. Her chosen medium proves new and difficult and she begins to experience frustration that her ideas are not coming to life as perfectly as she imagined. As her SIGNIFICANT OTHER attempts to thoughtfully check in it only ramps up her anxiety and perfectionism. In her laser focus she doesn’t realize she’s creating something much more sinister as her surroundings change to cardboard. In the end her significant other and her are transformed to cardboard as well blurring the lines between her imagination and reality.

Director Bio:

Prisca Elzen is a filmmaker from Green Bay, Wisconsin and directed the short film "In Cardboard" in 2023. She produced 2 other shorts that year. Her background includes an Associate Degree in Digital Media Technology and being a Jill-Of-All-Trades videographer and photographer for various companies, on set music grip, and much more. She loves creating with fellow Midwest filmmakers and is happy to help out anywhere on set and looks forward to more creative collaborations in the future!

Director Statement:

It was an absolute honor to direct and produce "In Cardboard". I love the production side of filmmaking about as much as I love directing. We started out with a fantastic prompt from the Belladonna Film project to meet artists from the Sheboygan Visual Artists Gallery and met Vic who's cardboard art is stunning and gave us a great launching point to think about the skill required. Adam's creative writing was key to the entire process, not to mention his incredible attention to detail with set design. Madeline is a fantastic actress who pushed through the long hours and went above and beyond. Riley's cinematography and editing pulled the whole concept together. I'm truly grateful for this opportunity to showcase local art, artists, and filmmakers!
