When carefree Adam gets a call from his childhood friend, he takes the chance to settle old scores and ease the guilt of avoiding her for so many years. They were once the closest of friends, but he’s visited only once since Sarah’s son was born—eight years ago. The surprises in store unearth memories and feelings and plenty of old baggage. Will the remainders of their relationship be enough to overcome the circumstances that pushed them apart and let them reconnect? It might have to be, because life will force them to find out.

Director Bio:

Randy Slagle is an engineer turned independent filmmaker. He moved to Madison in 2015 and is one of the organizers of the Madison Indie Filmmakers group, helping grow the group from the original 15 to 800 members. His last film, SON OF THE SEED, received seven official selections to film festivals and won the Award for Best SciFi Short Film at the Niagara International Film Festival in 2022.

He got his film making start while living in Switzerland in 2013. Being curious and nosey, he saw a group filming with an Arri Alexa camera. Knowing it was a serious group, he asked the producer if he could work on the film. Following a quick discussion with the production manager, Randy was assigned to work in the electrical department for the next 29 days. This launched him into his next career of filmmaking — at age 59.

He endeavors to find talented people to help bring his films to life, realizing that making a great film is not possible without collaborating with great people. He has been fortunate to work with amazing teams and finds it gratifying to be able to bring out the best in people, no matter their role, from PA to lead actress. He also respects and enjoys the variety of divergent elements required to make a film and bring it to completion. He continues to strive to make films that elicit emotion in his audience, believing that is one of the ultimate challenges and rewards when making a film.

On the personal side, Randy is passionate about travel and collects countries like others collect likes on an Instagram account. He’s been to 72 countries and is striving to get to 100 — before he turns 100!

Director Statement:

This is a story of friendship, responsibility and hope. It examines elements of responsibility when someone helps create life. Exactly what is their obligation? They contributed to creating life, but when does their responsibility end? Does it ever? These were some of the discussions I had with the writer when we debated making the film. We wanted to explore how others felt about the topic as well as how it fits in the context of what is going on in our nation around life and gender issues. Additionally, I wanted to delve into what a true friend would do for another given unexpected challenging circumstances.
